Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about QR Code Banana and creating free QR codes.
Is QR Code Banana really free?
Yes, QR Code Banana is 100% free โ no signup, no account, no hidden fees, and no paid plans. Every feature is available to everyone, forever. We believe QR code generation should be a free utility, not a subscription service.
Do I need to create an account to use QR Code Banana?
No account or signup is required. Just visit the site, enter your data, customize your QR code, and download it instantly. Your data never leaves your browser.
Do QR codes created with QR Code Banana expire?
No. QR codes generated by QR Code Banana are static codes that encode your data directly. They never expire, never stop working, and don't depend on our servers. Once you download your QR code, it works forever.
What types of QR codes can I create?
You can create QR codes for URLs, plain text, email addresses, phone numbers, WiFi networks, digital business cards (vCard), and SMS messages. Calendar event QR codes are coming soon. Each type formats the data so it's recognized correctly when scanned.
What file formats can I download?
You can download your QR codes as SVG (vector, perfect for print), PNG (raster, great for digital use), or JPG (compressed raster). You can also choose a custom download size up to 2000px.
Can I customize the colors of my QR code?
Yes! You can set a custom foreground color, background color, or even apply a color gradient (linear or radial). You can also make the background transparent for overlaying on images or designs.
Are the QR codes scannable with any phone?
Yes. All modern smartphones (iPhone and Android) can scan QR codes using their built-in camera app. No special QR code scanner app is needed.
Is it safe to use QR Code Banana?
Yes. All QR code generation happens directly in your browser โ the data you enter is never sent to our servers. We use Simple Analytics for basic website usage stats, which collects no personal data, uses no cookies, and doesn't store IP addresses.
Can I use QR codes from QR Code Banana for commercial purposes?
Yes, you can use QR codes generated by QR Code Banana for any purpose โ personal, commercial, or educational. There are no restrictions on how you use the QR codes you create.
What is error correction in QR codes?
Error correction allows a QR code to remain scannable even if part of it is damaged or obscured. QR Code Banana offers four levels: Low (7%), Medium (15%), Quartile (25%), and High (30%). Higher levels make the code more resilient but also slightly larger.
What's the difference between static and dynamic QR codes?
Static QR codes (like those from QR Code Banana) encode data directly in the pattern โ they work forever and don't depend on any server. Dynamic QR codes use a redirect URL controlled by a third party, which means they can stop working if the service shuts down or starts charging.
How small can I print a QR code?
For reliable scanning, we recommend printing QR codes at least 2cm x 2cm (about 0.8 inches). For scanning from a distance, make them larger. Using the SVG format ensures crisp output at any print size.
Can I add a logo to my QR code?
Logo embedding is not currently supported, but you can increase the error correction level to High (30%) and manually overlay a small logo in the center using an image editor. The error correction ensures the code remains scannable.
Why should I use QR Code Banana instead of other generators?
Most QR code generators are either limited free tiers designed to upsell you, or require accounts and track your data. QR Code Banana is genuinely free with all features available, generates codes in your browser for privacy, uses privacy-first analytics, and will never put features behind a paywall.
What QR code styles are available?
QR Code Banana offers five distinct styles: Classic (standard square modules), Rounded (softened corners), Thin (slim modules), Smooth (flowing organic shapes), and Circles (circular dots). All styles produce fully scannable QR codes.
